1. 对词汇理解错误
示范：2013年11月16日雅思作文真题：Some languages are increasing in use，while many others are declining. do you think this is a positive or negative development?关于题目中的development这个词，很多考生理解成了“发展”， “你认为这是积极的还是消极的发展?”在考场上有些同学就会去思考这是个什么样的发展而浪费很多时间。Development这个单词在雅思作文题目中是个“常客”， 意思就是phenomenon/trend(现象)。除此以外，还有一个词值得一提，即outweigh (超过v.), 比如: Does the advantage of international travel outweigh the disadvantage?

2. 忽视题眼

Should this action be encouraged? 现在很多国家为更好的经济发展延长人们的工作时间，但是这会引发很多社会问题。我们应该鼓励这种举措吗?题眼就是经济发展、社会问题。很多同学选择写不同意，即不应该鼓励这样的举措。那么在分论点上就应该往social impacts来写，而非像一些同学第一时间联想到的employees would be too exhausted, 那么就应该延展思路，写出Juvenile delinquency may deteriorate with the absence of in-time parenting. (因为缺乏及时的管教，社会上的青少年犯罪会愈发恶化。)同理，如果写同意此观点，那么应该从对国家经济的促进作用来论证。
