根据对历年雅思口语真题的分析，我们将地点类话题分为三大类：buildings, places, scenic spots.
其中buildings包括：Describe a library、a museum、a building in your university、a monument in your city、your ideal house
Places包括：Describe a restaurant、a shopping center、a street、a hotel、a city you visited、a place with water
Scenic spots包括：Describe a historical place、a natural beauty、a river or lake

类话题的侧重点是不同的。所以大家可以分类进行准备，这样话题思路也可以一通百通。
了解出题逻辑。观察所有地点类题型，不难发现，所有题目的出题逻辑都是围绕5个“W”和一个 “H”展开的。他们分别是Where，When，Who，What (see，do)，Why and How。
Where：学会灵活运用方位词汇。作为 Where这个元素，其实可以提前做好充分准备，只要懂得灵活运用表示方位词汇就好，考生只要根据不同话题套用固定句型就可以了。
When和Who：简单回答即可。When和Who主要是介绍建筑建造的年代和到访的人群，基本做个简单回答就可以了，类似It was established/ built/ finished in 一个年代就好。在说When时，还可以结合How often you visit this place? 一起回答。
Why：综合所有优点进行头脑风暴。Why?为什么喜欢是要重点交代一点，这时可以综合所有你曾经去过的咖啡店优点来个头脑风暴。也许你喜欢原因可能是这个咖啡店的饮料，或是早餐，也许店家是位制作咖啡的专家：因为每杯手工调制的咖啡上都会有很漂亮……都是喜欢的原因。
What：从所见所闻角度展开。在说What这个问题时，要从what you can see?和 what you can do?两方面考虑。说一个建筑里能看见什么，无非是它造型，大小，装潢(interior design，是不是exquisite，有没有一些glass curtain walls， 和chandelier，墙上可能还挂着很多的oil paintings)和布局(layout)， 几层楼，然后可以列举一系列甜点名称;并着重介绍某个best seller。
对于不同的话题类别，考生在作答的时候还要有所侧重和区分。
描述buildings，我们要说出具体是哪个建筑，它的地理位置、历史、内外有什么特点、功能用途以及自己的经历和个人感想等等。
描述places时，用一种分散思维法来展开陈述。比如描述shopping mall，先是对它的一个整体介绍。既然是一个购物中心，一般都会涉及到购物、美食、特色或是娱乐休闲。同学们可以从这几个方面展开叙述。
描述scenic spots要用联想法。既然是旅游景点，具体在哪里，有什么特色吸引你去观看，比如，民俗民风、建筑或是环境，还有你的特殊经历给你什么样的感受等。
