What’s your favorite colour and why?
Green. Most definitely green. I love the colour green as it reminds me ofnature, the countryside, trees, valleys of lush vegetation, mountains andforests. Green, all shades of green, makes me think of the wonders of thenatural world.

What colours are the walls of the rooms in your home?
The walls of my home are fairly simple, really. They are a sort of creamcolour, just off-white. They look attractive, though, bec
ause there’s a lot offramed pictures on them. I think this is the best way to decorate a fairlysimple small city flat, really. Plain walls and tasteful pictures.

Do you prefer dark colours or bright colours?
For the home, I definitely prefer lighter and brighter colours. I thinkthey make a space look larger and more uplifting. But for certain types ofplaces I think rich, dark colours can be very attractive. Like an old restaurantor a cinema or places like this where you want to feel the walls closing inaround you more and a really strong and perhaps elegant emotional atmosphere,but generally I prefer bright colours for a home, that’s for sure.

Do any colours have a special meaning in your culture?
I think red has always been a special colour in China, from the days ofancient China and the dragon symbols to the modern day China, red has alwaysbeen a symbol of strength, prosperity, hope and honour for the Chinese. Mostdefinitely red and gold are colours which have a very special meaning in myculture and deep cultural roots.
