I’d like to talk about Yaoming, who’s one of the most popular Chinese players in NBA. I started to watch his games when I was little, at that time, he was playing for Rockets, and he’s the main reason why I’ve been rooting for this team for a long time. He’s got awesome skills, you know, he’s tall, but super agile. He has made a great contribution to the development of basketball in China. His achievements in his career is remarkable, I remember, as the team captain, he led our national basketball team win the third place in the Olympic Games in 2008. In China, he has become a cultural icon.

What I love most about him is that he’s got a great sense of responsibility towards society. It’s fair to say, he’s super public-spirited. After his retirement, he started to devote himself to charity work. He even set up a foundation to help disabled children fight against disease. As a public figure, he really sets a good example to the general public.

Besides, he has made plenty of public service advertisements. What impressed me most is the one about protecting wildlife. The slogan, ‘when the buying stops, the killing can too’ has stuck in my mind. This has helped raise public awareness of the importance of protecting wild animals, especially those endangered ones.

So, that’s why he’s my favorite athlete.

I’d like to talk about basketball matches.

This sport grew on me mostly because of Yao Ming who’s one of the most popular Chinese players in NBA. He’s got awesome skills, you know, he’s tall, but super agile. I started to watch his game on TV when I was in primary school. He’s one of the few Chinese basketball players that played in NBA and have made a huge contribution to the development of basketball in China.

That’s why I love to watch his game, I feel so proud, you know.

I started to play basketball at that time, I could learn so much from the matches I watched on TV, like the strategy and stuff.

I love to watch this sport not only because of the fascinating skills of those players, also because of their teamwork and dedication. For them, it’s not just a game, it’s so much more than that. They teach me players could achieve more if they work as a team.

And competitions are always fierce on the court, I’m always thrilled when I’m watching a game, I mean, they could keep me on the edge of my seat the whole time, this game is so unpredictable, full of twists and turns, I mean, you never know who’s gonna win in the end until the last second. I guess that's another beauty of this sport.
