English through Science

English is not only a language of communication, but it is also the language of modern sciences in the world. Most innovative scientific discoveries and science conferences use English as their official communication tool. Here at SanYi International we took upon ourselves a new methodology of learning English which includes a saddle combination of Natural sciences, English vocabulary, Reading, Speaking, and discussing different topics using English language.

So, the program starts off as a combination of Chemistry, Biology, Life sciences and Physics. The idea is to talk about different topics of the beginning and evolution of life starting from the formation of stars and planets and going up to human biology. We end up discussing and learning about topics s

uch as Primordial Soup Theory, structure and types of bacteria, structure and function of DNA, the driving forces of evolution and most importantly all this is done in company with learning new vocabulary, new sentence structures, the usage of correct grammar etc.

Our topics not only narrow down on the subject itself, but it allows the student to develop critical thinking and ask the correct questions. The skill of critical thinking is important especially when the student knows how to form and ask the correct questions in English. Topics about the beginning of life, or how did monkeys evolve into human beings are of most interest to the student, as well as the topics about exploding stars, genetic mutations, and the formation of black holes. We also use couple of classes to talk about time, how it works and how it started. Talking about time allows the students to use the correct verb tenses such as past simple, present continuous, past perfect and so on to talk about certain event scattered across the time span.

So, the mentioned above should demonstrate how useful and ‘cool’ it is to learn English while also learning about sciences. We hope that this methodology will not only help our student to learn better English, but also will spark up their love towards sciences.
